Last night we went to the workshop Wall Hangings, by Emily Katz of Modern Macrame, based in Portland Oregon. She's currently on tour through Europe to teach her workshops, how cool is that? The workshop was hosted by The Hoxton Hotel in Amsterdam and it was such a fun evening! Growing up in the eighties I (Joyce) learned the technique at primary school, but totally forgot how to do it. So what's better than the opportunity to learn it again by Emily?

The Hoxton invited us to come over to their brand new hotel in Amsterdam and stay the night. The hotel is located at the Herengracht, in a couple of beautiful canal house buildings. The design of the interior was done by the amazing Nicemakers. We love how it turned out; luxurious materials, a wonderful colour palette, modern classics and so many great details!

We visited the Hoxton in London a couple of times and loved it, so we were happy when we heard they were coming to Amsterdam! What we really like about hotels like The Hoxton is that they do not only serve as a hotel for guests but as a hotspot for locals in the city as well! A cool place to go for a drink or a bite, to meet friends and get inspired by the fantastic ambiance.

The Hoxton nodigde ons uit om een kijkje te komen nemen en een nacht door te brengen in hun splinternieuwe hotel in Amsterdam die volgende week wordt geopend. Het hotel is gelegen aan de Herengracht, in een vijftal statige grachtenpanden. Het interieur is ontworpen door Nicemakers, dezelfde designers achter o.a. de Sla restaurants in Amsterdam. Het resultaat mag er zijn; luxueuze materialen, een prachtig kleurenpalet, moderne klassiekers en heel veel mooie details!

We hebben al een paar keer bij The Hoxton in Londen gelogeerd en waren dan ook blij verrast toen we een tijd geleden hoorden dat ze nu ook in Amsterdam een hotel zouden openen! Wat we zelf erg leuk vinden aan hotels als The Hoxton is dat ze zich niet alleen richten op de veelal buitenlandse toeristen maar ook een hotspot worden voor locals in de stad! Een hippe plek om naar toe te gaan voor een hapje of drankje, om af te spreken met vrienden en je te laten inspireren door de fantastische ambiance...
